“To iterate is human, to recurse divine.” — L. Peter Deutsch
This is my 1990s‑themed website, tucked inside my chic 2020s one. Here I put
the projects that are too small for my sharabara page but that I still want to share
with the world. Look closely enough and you'll find a 1980s Usenet site embedded
within this one and, if you dial out from its shell, a 1970s ARPANET site within that.
The Collection
dino-train-table— Exactly what it sounds like: a train table where the cars are dinosaurs (or other prehistoric animals). repo
snow-globe— A 24/7 video stream in the style of broadcast television. Content includes Richard Feynman lectures, nature footage, and arthouse short films with Adult Swim-style bumps. repo
grotte-du-calcul— The history of computing, if it happened 17,000+ years earlier. Inspired by the paintings in Lascaux cave. repo
nameday-party— A perennial nameday party based on the Polish calendar. Sto lat! repo
corpora-cafe— A cafe where every tap dispenses tokens from well-known corpora, with physics and all the toppings. repo
petroglyph-gallery— An art gallery of humanity’s first works in stone, from across the world. Walkable, at dusk, with refreshments. repo
flockquarium— The kind of lamp that makes you say “What the flock?!” repo
fly-paradise— I saw people doing crazy stuff to this fly online, so I wanted to give him a nice home. repo
noosphere— A non-social social media. Over a dozen automated streams of linguistics, philosophy, literature, and more — i.e. a whole-grain alternative to Reddit/Tumblr. repo
lava-hash— Lava lamps for cybersecurity, with a side of graph topology, à la Lavarand. repo
ancient-club— Ancient Egypt’s hottest nightclub. It has everything. repo
